Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, contractual requirements, and other relevant documents to determine project costs accurately. This includes assessing materials, labor, equipment and subcontractor requirements.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals by organizing cost estimates, developing pricing strategies, and considering project timelines and risk factors. Strong communication with field operation and subcontractor is required.
- Quantity Takeoff: Perform quantity takeoffs and measurements from architectural and engineering plans, ensuring accurate calculations of materials and labor requirements. Site visits within the State of Texas to take measures and counts to prepare takeoffs are part of your responsibility.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to gather accurate pricing information, negotiate contracts, and establish strong working relationships. Assistance in expanding the network of vendors and subcontractor to increase the Company range of competitive options is expected.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and value engineering assessments to identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Budget Management: Assist in monitoring and managing project budgets, tracking expenses, and providing regular cost reports to project managers and stakeholders.
- Change Order Evaluation: Evaluate change order requests, review their impact on project costs and timelines, and provide recommendations to project teams and clients.
- Document Control: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, contracts, bid documents, and other relevant information. Ensure adherence to established documentation procedures.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the estimation process.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and provide documentation of their eligibility upon hire.
- Applicants should be located in the Austin TX area, or within approximately one hour’s drive to Austin.
- Familiarity with private and public projects in the State of Texas (City of Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and adjacent metroplexes), State projects, County projects, District projects and Federal projects (TxDOT, TXPW, etc). It is not excluded the Company will potentially bid also out-of-state projects.
- Education: Bachelor Of Science in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Construction Estimator or a similar role within the construction industry. Familiarity with various construction methods, materials, and best practices. 5 to 10 years’ experience in estimating Heavy Civil (Erosion Control, Utilities, Excavation, Retaining Walls, Site Preparation, etc) projects, both private and public, is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools. Examples are Bluebeam, Amtek-CivCast, Construct Connect, MS Office Suite, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, OST, etc. Strong knowledge of spreadsheet applications, such as Microsoft Excel, for detailed cost calculations.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and mathematical skills to interpret project documents, perform accurate calculations, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate estimations and bid proposals.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with project teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Time Management: Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to analyze complex problems, think critically, and provide practical solutions.
- Construction Industry Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends, regulations, and standards.
